Tuesday Nights - 'Beginner Mindset' Flow

In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s mind there are few.”

--  Shunryu Suzuki in Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind

Beginner Mindset is a concept from Zen Buddhism called Shoshin: “having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner in that subject would.”  There’s significant value of approaching problems as a novice, even if you already know a lot about them. You are more willing to experiment, to ask ‘why’ and question the status quo.

On Tuesday evenings, join me in this accessible flow.  Within the class, using Beginner Mindset we well be:

  • Meeting each participant where they are at that day.  This includes playing with varying ideas to achieve the intent of the flow

Personal Mobility/Resiliency Programs

I feel movement is personal and should really meet you where you are.  I also strongly believe all bodies deserve to move with ease and develop/grow towards mobility, resiliency and longevity of movement.  Classes are great to get some generalized movement definitely!  However, with my core beliefs, this means movement is specific to each individual, meeting them where they are to grow how they perceive and need to-- allowing a mind/body connection.  This program is to help you discover more about yourself while extending longevity of movement for you while working on your mobility.

This program can be pieced together however you'd like.  I offer sliding scale for the personalized programs and privates as well, like all offerings, 20% of all monies collected are donated to Water First.  To sign-up, scroll down to the Class Registration section.

How does this  Personalized Programwork?

1 - One-on-One Valuation

After completing the below intake form, you and I will meet over Zoom for 30-60 minutes discussing together where you are and the particular aspects you'd like to see in your personalized mobility/resiliency program.  In this time, we'll play together with some movements and by the end of the time together, you'll be provided a printable personalized program and video of our meeting.  In this program, we'll talk through an ideal cadence as well as duration of the practice.  If you only have 10 mins a few days a week, we'll make the program to meet you there.   During this time, we'll ensure that there are no questions to the movements; again we'll play together through the practice to ensure it makes sense and is truly accessible to you.

Once completed, you can practice on your own and reach out when you're ready to change it up.  Additionally, you can sign up for private practices (see below) allowing for some additional work and modifications to your practice as it is ready.

2 - One-on-One Practices

With your program in hand, you can also have follow-up One-on-One Practices.  During these 60 minute sessions, we'll work through your defined practice AND do some additional creative movement time to enhance your practice.  These can be setup as often as you like.  If done regularly, adjustments can be made to your personalized plan to ensure you are continuing to build your resiliency.
